About Jackie

Trained in Vocal Performance and Musical Theater, Jackie Bakewell has played roles in a multitude of shows, varying from musicals in all time periods, to modern comedies and old-fashioned dramas in New York theaters, making her way to Broadway.

Jackie has most recently been seen in her Junior Recital at Hofstra University, where she performed 12 pieces of music ranging in style. Some of her pieces included “En vain pour éviter” from Carmen, “Immer leiser wird mein Schlummer” by Johannes Brahms, “Frim Fram Sauce” by Joe Ricardel, and “In His Eyes” from Jekyll and Hyde.

Prior to that Jackie was in the opera, “L’Ivrogne Corrigé” (“The Reformed Drunk”) by Christoph Willibald Glück as Colette and the 1st Fury. Most recently before that, she was seen in “Almost, Maine” by John Cariani as Glory and Rhonda, JD Lawrence’s Christian comedy, “If You Don’t Stand For Something, You’ll Fall For Anything”, and Woman 2 in Jason Robert Brown’s “Songs For A New World”.

Ms. Bakewell will soon be seen in a showcase (October 11th, 2014) called “An Evening On Broadway” by Yellow Brick Road Theatrical on Long Island, where she will have the pleasure of performing some songs of Broadway’s greatest roles, including Christine Daae, Emma Carew and Cosette.

Throughout her learning experience, Ms. Bakewell has had the pleasure of learning from jazz musician Kerry Marsh, classical Tenor Gregory Mercer, opera coach Isabel Milenski, conductors David Fryling and David Ramael, and choreographer / casting director Brett Smock in acting at Hofstra University.

If she is not busy auditioning / rehearsing / performing, Jackie is either working to save money for a trip to Paris to further her French studies (and eat some crepes, of course), enjoying a good book, arranging music for her a cappella group, or spending time with her family and friends.

Jackie cannot wait until the day she sees her name in a Broadway Playbill… (maybe, and hopefully next to some of her favorite Broadway stars.)
